Jeff Castner has spent his entire career at Marian University, a mid-sized Catholic college in Indianapolis, Indiana. He went there as a student and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education in 1986. He has been associated with sports for much of his time at Marian, as a coach on the baseball team. At present, Jeff Castner is Marian University’s Assistant Director of Operations.

As a student majoring in Physical Education, Jeff Castner was required
to take a broad range of core classes that gave him a thorough grounding in the
discipline. In addition to classes like Introduction to Physical Therapy, Jeff
Castner studied the History and Philosophy of P.E., biomechanics, the
physiology of exercise, and the psychology of sports. He also studied more
advanced topics, like the principles of coaching, anatomy and physiology,
educational psychology, and education and ethics.
As he was studying for his Phys Ed degree, Jeff Castner was also
starring on Marian
University’s baseball
team. He played for the Knights for two seasons and was a dominating pitcher,
compiling a 1.88 earned run average his first year and a record-setting 16-3
win-loss record over the two seasons. Jeff Castner was named Most Valuable
Pitcher in 1985 and 1986, and both years was all-conference and all-district
21.
After graduation, Jeff Castner served as assistant baseball coach from
1995-99. As pitching coach, he guided the team to two conference championships.
